Proxima Pulse 19
Striving for goals not just gold.
Dear Gaming Enthusiasts and Proxima Community,
Another week where we’re working at a new build of the game which gives some time to reflect on our status within the gaming community and what are our driving motivations.
What's New at Proxima?
As you’re probably aware we’re one of the new kids on the block when it comes to games developers. As an indie developer that is both extremely exciting and incredibly nerve-wracking. Though so much has gone our way so far along the road it certainly hasn’t been without the odd hiccup and the occasional teething problem. Many of these challenges have only helped to solidify our team bond and our commitment to reaching our goals. But what are these goals? We want to take our excellent source material the Warship Jolly Roger graphic novel and use it as a blueprint to deliver the best game we can. The feeling within the camp is we’ll need as much creative control as possible and the right amount of time to be able to produce the game we desire. As we hope you can tell from our trailer the talent is certainly here and since many of us are working on the game on top of other jobs, it would be hard to fault our work ethic. We believe in the strengths of the team and our connection as a unit builds with each team meeting.
As you may imagine self-funding the game so far has been our greatest challenge. The commitment of everyone within Proxima has helped massively but it has still come at a real-world price: meaning we’ve had to dig into our own pockets to be able to make the game we want. We hope for a breakthrough in the coming months in the form of a greenlight from a publisher and obviously this was at the core of our visit to GDC. The rest is out of our control. Once again, the talent of the team and the potential of the project make it all worthwhile and no matter what unfolds we still aim to finish the game, it’s only how much we have in the kitty that dictates the speed at which this is done. If any readers have any leads or support with this, please do get in contact on any of our channels.
